LEE MORGAN “The Sidewinder” RVG, P, Blue Note BST 84157 Stereo Vinyl
This is the 1964, first edition, “VAN GELDER” stamped, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “The Sidewinder” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BST 84157. Musicians include Lee Morgan – trumpet, Joe Henderson – tenor saxophone, Barry Harris – piano, Bob Cranshaw – bass, Billy Higgins – drums.
VINYL plays well, with consistent light background surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks (the latter mostly on the first track of each side). Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Very Good gloss. Handful of non-feelable hairline marks. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels are very faded, with writing and inking. See photos.
COVER is in good shape. Corners worn. Ringwear. Sticker residue. Spine and seams show cracking. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows handing writing, wear. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER. Record photographed before final clear rinse/dry.
