Description
Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB overall condition vinyl 2 LP Set and a 1972 issue on the Blue Note Records label and the remarkable self-titled final session as a leader by legendary trumpeter LEE MORGAN titled "Lee Morgan"---the album was recorded in September 1971 by RUDY VAN GELDER (the vinyl has VAN GELDER stamped in the runout grooves of all four sides) and features GRACHAN MONCUR III on trombone, BILLY HARPER on tenor saxophone and alto flute, BOBBI HUMPHREY on flute, HAROLD MABERN on piano and electric piano, REGGIE WORKMAN on acoustic bass and percussion, JYMIE MERRITT on electric bass, and FREDDIE WAITS on drums--this is a wonderful final musical testament by Lee Morgan, who was tragically killed six months after this recording. The LP is a Blue Note Records 2nd Pressing issued in 1973 with the serial numberr BST-84901, is a Stereo issue with VAN GELDER stamped in all four runout grooves and was made in the United States.
This 2 LP Set is in SUPERB overall condition and the vinyl should play beautifully overall and is in VG++ condition on album one with some very light pressing bubbles near the beginning of the sides which produce a few light and scattered pops--the LP otherwise has just a few light paper scuffs that should not signifcantly affect play; record two is in NEAR MINT- (Ex) and has some light paper scuffs that should not significantly affect play; The deluxe gatefold cover is also in NM- condition with a tiny owner's first name on the bottom right of the front surface (Lee Morgan's left leg), slight 1/2 inch clean splits on the lower opening edges, a VERY slight rounded corner on the lower right tip and very light ding on the upper opening tip, a light forward list of the spine end, VERY slight ringwear on the surfaces and just very light shelfwear otherwise but NO other significant flaws! The ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE INNER SLEEVES are both included and in beautiful shape.
Please Note: I CAN ship records outside of the United States but will need to get a weight estimate based on the final PACKAGED weight for this record--I cannot ship for the $4.00 U.S. Media Rate and the quoted International Shipping Rate may differ from the final shipping rate due to packaged weight differences so please wait to make payment until a final invoice is received. Thanks!
Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)
Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.
Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.
Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.
Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches. Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.
Very Good Minus (VG-) A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.
Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.
Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this vinyl LP!
Thanks very much for looking, and good luck if you're bidding!
