Penniless and with no knowledge of English, they wandered the ghetto streets of Kingston. A rasta brought them to Black Ark, where Perry believed Jah brought them to him for a reason, and proceeded to record this groundbreaking album with members of the Upsetters. Sung mostly in their native Lingala, this fusion of African rhythms and a dubwise sensibility predates and transcends all the world fusion music that would become popular over a decade later...backing musicians were Mikey Boo, Boris Gardiner, Chinna, Keith Sterling, Winston Wright, Scully & Sticky, Glen DaCosta, Dave Madden, Vin Gordon & Deadly Headley formed the horns section, mento-legends the Jolly Brothers supplied the background vocals...giga-rare + absolutely impossible to find as original '78 press...here we have the very welcome 1991 re-press on the Jolie Zaire-label from Belgium...even this one is hard to find, especially in such magnificent condition...a real Upsetter special....strikkly African culture!!!)   ORIGINAL PRESS (NOT A RE-PRESS!)   FEATURE: JAH GUIDE   WAX 'N' SOUND:  ex / ex, both sides show hardly any surface marks but a leansing would even improve the situation, looks great + shiny, plays pop-a-top all the while w/ KILLER punch + crispiest sound on both sides - outstanding copy, you gotta seek for a while to find one like this! LABEL: both sides great, NO writings, NO damages, perfectly perfect!  SLEEVE: in great condition, shows lightest wear only, ex condition, NO writings, NO damages, you won't find a better one! Something 'bout Sound + Vision: We shouldn't rely on visual appearance alone (as pretty looks isn’t all as they say) - therefore these records are graded after their visual appearance and their sound quality! I personally prefer a record with crackling but strong sound + punch to one playing clean but with surface noise from the pressing (as we find with re-pressed discs - too - often). Grading records is a very subjective thing but I try hard to be objective as a human being can be (yes indeed, this seller is a human being).   THIS IS MY VINYL GRADING SCALE:   EX (= really great - EX means "excellent", really...) VG (= nice, if you don't have an excellent one - by the way: VG means "very good"...) G (= playable, but you might find a better one - G means "good", but this term may be a bit euphemistic to reggae-vinyl-novices. This record sleeve's main-colour is orange, the stripes you may see on the pic come from some reflections due to the scanning-process, the sleeve actually is orange with black and red letters - and there aren't any darker or lighter stripes - just the main colour: orange!
