Leftism is the debut album by electronica musicians Leftfield, released in 1995 in Double and Triple LP Editions with guest vocalists John Lydon [Sex Pistols/PiL] & Toni Haliday [Curve]
It was shortlisted for the 1995 Mercury Music Prize but lost-out to "Portishead – Dummy"
With Leftism, Leftfield made the crossover of techno into the pop mainstream two years before the likes of the ChemicalBrothers.
Embarking on a series of high-profile collaborations, they introduced to the charts a musical manifesto that had been popular in the clubs for years - including ambient ('Song Of Life'), pure techno, ragga, African tribal chants ('Afro-Left') and the all-important remix.
The pumping, snarling 'Open Up', featuring John Lydon, predated the Prodigy in its blend of punk and dance, and 'Original', with Curve's Toni Halliday, ironically inspired a multitude of imitators.
Most of these tracks have become ubiquitous through mainstream television and film, and it is easy to forget that, before Leftfield, techno music had only rarely stepped outside clubland.

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO wear, NO writing and NO evident spindle marks. I WOULD SAY THAT THIS SET HAS BARELY BEEN PLAYED
VINYL Visual: There are some light scuffs on the surfaces of the first LP but these have NO major audio consequence and the other 2 records are LIKE NEW AND COMPLETELY UNMARKED. THREE BEAUTIFUL SLABS OF VINYL
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely OUTSTANDING - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY STRONG, RICH and VIBRANT. TREMENDOUS LP. Record One - the only one which I think has been played is perfect apart from a little surface noise and a few minor clicks and pops, never intrusive (and only of the kind you are more than likely to find on even brand new MINT vinyl). The other 2 LPs play with NO scratches, NO sticks, NO jumps, NO clicks/pops and NO surface noise AT ALL. The set plays to an incredibly high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion and must be graded NEAR MINT for audio and a better copy I do not think you will find. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page). BEAUTIFUL COPY
SLEEVE: The original TRI-GATEFOLD sleeve is also in FANTASTIC condition. NEAR MINT with only the LIGHTEST of wear to the corners and edges. CLEAN, CLEAR spine with all text BOLD and SHARP
