Very nice original, heavy vinyl, deep-groove/microgroove press of Lennie Niehaus VOL. 1: THE QUINTETS (1956) on the archetypal cool/West Coast jazz label Contemporary - mono HIGH FIDELITY...fantastic sound. And with a fabulous band: -JACK MONTROSE (tenor sax) -BOB GORDON (baritone sax) -MONTY BUDWIG and RED MITCHELL (bass) -HAMPTON HAWES (piano) -STU WILLIAMSON (valve trombone and trumpet) and -SHELLY MANNE (drums) Many original Niehaus compositions throughout this record as well. A fine example of West Coast 'cool jazz' at its peak.
