A Black Mass was released in 1968.

"A Black Mass" is a radio horror play, written by Baraka, with Ra and Arkestra providing incidental music.

The text was publishied in Four Black Revolutionary Plays, by LeRoi Jones (Bobbs-Merrill). Actors identified on the jacket; musicians identified
by rlc.

According to Julian Vein, there are two different covers; the black and
white one is less common

1st original rare 1968 US mono limited pressing with "1" written on the side A of the "red" clean labels were are printed the artists credits

Visual grade

Side A : EXCELLENT

Excepting tiny, light marks, (nothing deep !) and insignificant, unfeelable sleeve hairlines, the playing surface of this thick, shiny vinyl looks free of other noticeable signs of handling as scuffs, scratches, groove wear

Side B : VERY GOOD

 The playing surface shows several pin-pointed marks and some light sleeve scuffs

Audio grade

Side A : EXCELLENT

Excepting only one short episode of extremely light background tickin', softly feelable below the music level, plays clean with NO other noticeable blemishes as clicks, skips, noise

Side B : VERY GOOD

A handful of short episodes of more or less feelable background tickin', here and there but for the most part of the side plays clean with NO other noticeable blemishes

This record comes in its original white porthole paper inner sleeve

Cleaned with CLEAR AUDIO VACUUM MATRIX using its PURE GROOVE professional solution

COVER : CLOSE to VERY GOOD+

1st rare hard blank, black and white leather textured, framed rear jacket with pasted art slick on front

This 1st version gives no Sun Ra credit

The front side is graded as such because of more or less evident rubbing spots and some thin hairlines scratches (see pic)

NO other noticeable flaws !

Tight seams and spine with NO wear or splits

With NO dog-eared corners, NO tears, NO writings, NO stamps, NO holes, NO stains

Wearless framed, textured blank back side
