Description
The inimitable Les Baxter's most famed album, Space Escapade, original 1958 first pressing LP on Capitol T-968. The disc is in VG+ condition, with just a few minor scuffs and surface marks, which barely affect the play at all. Plays mostly completely quietly but with occasional faint background noise, and just a few isolated ticks here and there. The overall sound is mostly perfect, and the absolutely incredible sound of the recording is clear and beautifully present. This recording is one of the great audiophile recordings of all time, and sounds unbelievable in the original. The CD and the vinyl reissues don't even come close to giving you this experience. And this copy plays gorgeously. The cover is also mostly in wonderful shape, the only real flaw being a 2 1/2" split at the top. The cover has been kept all this time in what appears to be the original plastic wrap, though I can't be sure it is the original wrapper when it was new. I think so, because it has been untouched in a box since the early 60s. I perhaps foolishly slipped it off to take photos, but I put it back now, very carefully. Anyhow aside from the short seam split the cover is really nice. No ringwear or further splitting. A little general wear but still I would call it E-. This is an excellent copy and hard to beat. Really beautiful.
