Description
Seller is Glenn Branca: This is the original 1st Edition AND 1st pressing of the vinyl EP "Lesson No. 1 For Electric Guitar" by Glenn Branca on 99 Records 1980. The 1st pressing has a silver label, the ones that came after had an orange one. This is the first record released on 99 Records 99-01 EP. Just as an aside, I was one of the early customers of Ed Bahlman's tiny record shop on 99 MacDougal St. At the time he was only selling indie singles, mainly UK imports. He was set up in a little corner of his wife's (Gina) Punk clothing store. Most of the clothes were her design (She would also design the cover for the record). As Ed's shop became more popular he expanded his inventory and was starting to make some money. I was trying to find a way to get out a 12". My music had already become too long for 7" singles. I asked Ed if he had ever thought of starting a record company. He said yeah but he had no idea about how to do it. Since I had released two singles on Theoretical Records I knew about studios, mastering, record manufacturers, cover printers, distributors and how much it all cost. I also knew he was a fan of my music. When I gave him all the info he said he could afford it so let's do it. That was the origin story of 99 Records and of this record, my first 12". The rest is, as they say.........
The condition of the this vinyl is near mint. No warps, scratches or skips. Maybe played once. The cover is in terrible condition. Completely torn open all the way across the top and halfway across the bottom. It also shows a lot of shelf wear and a piece of black electrical tape at the upper right front and some kind of sticker on the back left. The one in the picture is the one I'm selling. It will be in plastic in the mailer. It's signed on the back.
