Description
Lev Nikolayevich Oborin, born September 11, 1907; died January 5, 1974 in Moscow, was a Russian pianist.Studied piano with Yelena Gnessin, a pupil of Ferruccio Busoni and composition with Alexander Gretchaninov. Entered 1921 in the Moscow Conservatory, won first prize of the International Chopin Piano Competition 1927 in Warsaw. Toured in Poland and Germany, until 1945 he performed exclusively in Russia and tought at the Moscow Conservatory; during 1941 to 1963, he played also in a piano trio with David Oistrakh and the cellist Sviatoslav Knushevitzky.
