Description
Rare original 1980 UK issued Debut 12" 45rpm Promo from funksters Level 42 (Some say only 50 pressed but i've also seen 500 copies mentioned which seems perhaps more realistic)
Only a limited number of these were pressed, and featured the track 'Sandstorm' by Level 42 on one side and 'Journey To...' by Powerline on the other, later released in it's own right as a single but just entitled 'Journey' but this version is a different rare 'Sax' remix.
Obviously of interest to Level 42 collectors as an early example of their trademark funky sound but also the Powerline track has become highly regarded by collectors of funky disco with it's early house sound.
Plain white labels with rubber-stamped titles to each side (see photos).
Vinyl is on the whole in EXCELLENT condition BUT there is a slight mark on both sides at the beginning of the tracks where the seam on the original die-cut white card sleeve separated and the record sat between the glued portions of the seam for some time. This resulted in a blemish on either side (not sticky) which sounds for the first few revolutions, not too loudly, and then ceases and the record plays with excellent fidelity from there on. Not too distracting really as the record is cut quite loud. The labels are pretty clean, just a couple of spots of foxing on the 'Powerline' side but no unwanted writing or stickers. The record comes with it's original plain white die-cut sleeve, which is in very good condition, slightly grubby but not creased and no writing, tears or stickers. I have also added a poly-lined inner sleeve for extra protection.
