Description
This is an original U.S. mono pressing copy of the rare sole LP by LA-based folk/country/pop-rock group the Lewis and Clarke Expedition, released in 1967. Generally comparable to contemporaries Hearts and Flowers, the group wrote almost all their own material. Highlights include the LP's sole straightforward rocker, "Destination Unknown," and the multipart album closer, "Memorial to the American Indian," which concludes with a version of John Loudermilk's "(The Lament of) The Cherokee Reservation Indian," later a hit for Paul Revere and the Raiders (as the Raiders). NB: The LP is sometimes known as Earth, Air, Fire & Water, which is printed over the band photo on the back cover of the jacket, but that's the only place that phrase appears (it's not on the front cover, spine, or disc labels). The front cover of the jacket is close to pristine. The back cover, by contrast, has writing in black marker (large) and blue pen (small), light staining along the seams, and “Not for sale/Promotional use only” stamped in one corner (see photo). Overall VG+. The disc is clean with some light scraping and scuffing, and plays with light surface noise (EX-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
