LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS LP SINGS THE BLUES (Imperial Records LP 9186A) Released 1962.
From the grandfather of Texas Blues. Lightnin' learned the blues from Blind Lemon Jefferson. Our copy came from the original owner, who took very good care of their albums. We will be listing more great blues rarities from this collection shortly. Original US mono pressing on the grooved black Imperial label. The disc has been kept in a protective rice paper sleeve which has preserved the nice reflective sheen on the grooves. Superlative cover with deep, rich unfaded colors. Side B begins with "Let Me Play With Your Poodle." Good sturdy cardboard cover & pressed on a thick slab of wax. (Etched matrix: "IX-374").
COVER - VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS
Cover has no seam splits, stains, tape, ink spills, smudges, puncture holes, writing, or stickers. The top edge is still attached & intact, but there is the beginnings of a tidy half-inch tear. Small amount of rubbing & scuffing, with no breaks in the paper. The spine is all readable with some brief dents. Label looks quite nice: free of stains, marks, scuffs, cuts & writing. Sharp-cut hole free of spindle brushings.
DISC - NEAR MINT
The disc looks quite nice with no scratches, scuffs, flecks, skips, streaking or residue on the disc or dead wax. Platter surface still exudes a nice surface sheen. Free of chips, cracks & warping. There are a few shallow, inaudible pits which do not affect play. The thick platter holds its sound better than a cheaper modern pressing.
