LIQUID SKY 1983 Varèse Sarabande 1st Press STV81181 Me and My Rhythm Box NM
The soundtrack to Slava Tsukerman's 1982 cult film, recorded almost entirely on a Fairlight CMI at the Public Access Synthesizer Studio (PASS) in New York City. The score — composed by Tsukerman, Brenda I. Hutchinson, and Clive Smith — draws on adapted fragments of Carl Orff, Marin Marais, and Anthony Philip Heinrich fed through early digital synthesis, producing something that sounds unlike any other film score of its era. "Me and My Rhythm Box," sung by Paula E. Sheppard with lyrics by Tsukerman, stands apart as the album's most direct and accessible track — minimal electro with a cold New York edge.
The film follows a model named Margaret navigating the heroin-and-fashion underground of early 80s downtown Manhattan, where microscopic aliens have arrived to feed on human endorphins. Anne Carlisle plays both Margaret and her antagonist Jimmy. The film was shot entirely in New York, co-written by Tsukerman and Carlisle, and became a landmark of American independent and queer cinema.

Both sides carry a first lacquer cut — ZF.001.A and ZF.001.B. This is the earliest cut of this pressing.
