Description
Up for bid/sale is an original 1957 LITTLE DARLIN' ("Little Derlin' I need you...") Recorded by THE GLADIOLAS (Maurice Williams) On the EXCELLO Record Label, this record featuring the song(s), “LITTLE DARLIN' / SWEETHEART PLEASE DON'T GO”. It's record is #2101, This record was made in the USA and is in EXCELLENT PLUS CONDITION Most would list this as NM but I grade a little harder than most. there are a couple super fine scratches on the vinyl otherwise this is near perfect.
The original version of the song was on this small Excello label.(Excello primarily recording "swamp blues" songs in Crowley, Louisiana. The Gladiolas song peaked at number 11 on the R&B charts in April 1957, but barely dented the hot 100. By 1959, Williams' group became "Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs" with the rock 'n roll- R&B hit "Stay." The Diamonds' version followed a month later. The Diamonds were soon covering Little Darlin' successfully. The Diamonds were a Canadian pop group that evolved into a Doo-Wop group.
