LITTLE FEAT "WAITING for COLUMBUS" LIVE DOUBLE LP

Up for purchase is Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, LIVE Double LP. This album was originally released in the U.S. by Warner Bros. Records ?under catalog number 2BS 3140 in 1978. This is the original, authentic, first U.S. pressing; this is not a record club album, a reissue or a counterfeit pressing. No Bar Code. Original, thick cardboard gatefold cover and inner sleeves. The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. The sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied and vivid - you cannot expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording. For track listing see pictures.

Waiting for Columbus is the first live album by the band Little Feat. The album was recorded during seven performances in 1977. The first four shows were held at the Rainbow Theatre in London on August 1–4, 1977. The final three shows were recorded in George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium on August 8–10 that same summer in Washington, D.C. Local Washington radio personality Don "Cerphe" Colwell can be heard leading the audience in a "F-E-A-T" spell out in between the first ("Join the Band") and second ("Fat Man in the Bathtub") tracks. The band was backed by the Tower of Power horn section and the result was one of their biggest selling albums. Many of their more well-known songs were either re-worked or extended. Signature song "Dixie Chicken", the first part of a medley with “Tripe Face Boogie”, includes a lengthy piano solo by keyboardist Bill Payne, a Dixieland horn arrangement and finally a dual guitar jam between the band's two guitarists, Lowell George and Paul Barrere. Covered tunes "Don't Bogart That Joint" (Fraternity of Man) and "On Your Way Down" (Allen Toussaint) also appear on Waiting for Columbus. The Rolling Stones’ Mick Taylor joins Lowell George on slide guitar. “Willin'” displays the voice and personality of George in the last band release before his death. This is an album that has never had much airplay on mainstream classic rock radio, but is almost universally treasured by fans of the genre.

The vinyl is in very good condition plus to excellent condition with minimal surface noise, detectable mostly between songs, no skips or pops. Some light surface scratches, but not too many. The vinyl still has all the shine and luster of new, and the labels are clean with no stickers or damage. The album cover is in very good+ condition, having light shelf wear and ringwear, but still a nice gloss. No splits, tears or writing. The inner sleeves are the original plastic ones and they are in very good condition. There is a small little hole in one, but no splits, tears or writing. See photos for details. All of the records I am selling are from either my own personal collection or my brother's, and they have been in storage since the 1980s. One owner, from a smoke-free environment. We do not charge any handling fees and the shipping cost listed is our best estimate of what the actual shipping cost will be. On fragile items, the shipping cost includes insurance. Sometimes it costs more to ship the item than estimated and the additional cost comes out of our profit.
