I am parting with some of my treasured LPs.  Here's the FIRST US PRESSING from THE GRATEFUL DEAD, titled LIVE DEAD from 1969, 2WS1830.  The first pressings had the W7 on the olive green labels.   side 1     39602 2WS1830 1G side 2.    39603 2Ws 1830-1C side 3.    39604 2WS  183D-1C side 4.    39605 2WS1830D-1J  This is an exceptional copy.  The early Dead LPs are difficult to find in such clean condition because they were a small regional band in '69, and second the fans who did buy these were people who played them hard. Everybody now knows how great the Dead were in concert, but after a number of studio LP's, this was their first live effort.  They shined here with side long songs that had all the energy and excitement that they offered live.  This is a great time capsule into the band at that period, and it's a wonder they would even do a live LP.  While kind of common now, Rock bands in the 60's made very few live LPs.  James Brown Live at The Apollo was the first real great live LP along with BB King live at The Regal. The Who Live at Leeds was also stellar, but not a lot of live records pressed at the time.  So this release was amazing just for the fact that it happened.  
The cover is in great condition with a touch of small fraying on the bottom corners. A very small touch of ringwear on the back cover..and the gatefold and spine are beautiful.  This is not a copy that was kept in plastic and protected, but it is also a copy that was taken well care of and is in fantastic shape.  So, the inside gatefold has minor toning, but less than one might expect for an LP 50 years old.  the VINYL IS BEAUTIFUL and plays EX with a small hint of noise at the beginning of play on a side or 2, but nothing that effects the play sound at all.  The vinyl looks beautiful too.  With bright light I can see the effects of pressing from the inners.  That does not effect play at all.  The labels are beautiful, and are the 2 original inners.


It's a beautiful hard to find still EX copy.   

I love original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me.  PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LPS FOR SALE NOW ON EBAY.  I AM POSTING SOME VERY COOL RECORDS.
SS    = (STILL SEALED) The record itself is in brand new condition, assumed never to have been played.

M      = (MINT)  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, 
booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

M -    = (MINT MINUS)  MINT- is not MINT but is very close to it, near new, there might be a blemish or two, but overall record and jacket are like new or very close to new.

EX     = (EXCELLENT)  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight 
wear and / or creasing. 

VG    = (VERY GOOD)  The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the
occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

G      = (GOOD)  The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and 
contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

F       = (FAIR)  The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will 
be torn, stained and / or defaced.

P       = (POOR)  The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

B       = (BAD)  The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler

We also use + or - to adjust grades in between, so...this scopes out to: SS/M/M-/EX+/EX/EX-/VG+/VG/VG-/G+/G/F/P/B
