Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique Lps, this one featuring the Symphony of the Air, Josef Krips with Artur Rubinstein, pianist.

  Several unique things about this item:  Firstly, these discs retain the original shine with no visible imperfections grading by sight in normal room light.    I'm sure if you took these and put them under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes them less than mint.  If you're that kind of collector, let me suggest this auction is not for you.

I don't claim these records are mint.  Based on past experience and visual examination, I'd expect the tracks to audibly average around VG+(excellent) with some scattered very, very light to very light surface noise.  If you want an audio grade of an entire record, no problem, just drop me a note well in advance of the end of auction.  You can then assign your own grade based on my comments on what I heard and the GRADING SCALE BELOW!.  I did take the time to test the first record in three spots on each side and noted only a very, very light to very light surface noise.  This was with the volume turned up MUCH HIGHER than normal.    

Keep in mind how it plays for me may differ how it plays for you based on differences in audio equipment.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s). 

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Symphony of the Air, Josef Krips with Artur Rubinstein, pianist Title: The five Beethoven concertos Record: Black vinyl with original shine and no visible imperfections grading by sight in normal room light. Labels: Red with silver print, shaded dog at top.   No stickers, no pen/pencil marks, no spindle marks. Trailing wax: Side 1: "J2 RY3508-1S A2 I".  Side 2: "J2 RY3509-1S A2 I". Inner sleeve(s): Five wax paper sleeves in fine shape.  Cover: A small sticker front upper left corner.  A 1"x3" sticker back lower right corner.  I have successfully removed these from other records in this collection without scuffing. I'm leaving that up to the new owner to remove these, if desired.   No seam splits.  Inside front cover has the name of a previous owner written.  There is a larger rectangular sticker back lower right corner as part of the box set.  The print on it starts with "These recordings were made from original triple track stereo tape masters ..." and there is a date of "1958" stamped on it.  Corners slightly worn.   Slight general/ring wear.  Rate the cover VG to VG+(excellent).  You can assign your own grade based on my comments. Comments: Comes with a 13-page booklet, in fine shape.  Also comes with a small packet of film photos which has noted on it "KCET-TV 90th Birthday concert."  Based on past experience, short tests, and visual examination, I'd expect the tracks to audibly average around VG+(excellent) with some scattered very, very light to very light surface noise.  If you want an audio grade (please request well in advance of the end of auction), you can then assign your own grade based on my comments and the scale shown below. Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

• NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
• 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
• 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
• VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
• VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
• G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I can ship in a  14 x 14 x 6" box. Weight with box is about 3 pound 6 oz. Shipping is $4.12 Media Rate (3-4 pounds) + $1.70 box/tape/packing = $5.82.
