Description
2 single-sided test pressings of LL 654 Schubert SONATA FOR PIANO AND ARPEGGIONE/Schumann FANTASIESTUCKE, featuring Maurice Gendron on cello with accompaniment by Jean Francaix on piano. Recorded on the London Records label (date unknown, but 1950s).
ARL 1341-2A; ARL 1342-3A in the run-off grooves. Very rare as a test pressing. I have not come across any other copies.
Includes the original outer and inner sleeves as issued by the record company, though these are age tanned and a little tatty/creased. The records have been housed in newer sleeves.
The records have been play tested and are graded between G+ and EX (both visually and audibly):
ARL 1341-2A (Schubert): Plays through with a dozen tics/pops around the start, then intermittent light tics, more so towards the end of first third, then later towards the end of the side.
ARL 1342-3A (Schumann): Plays through with fewer intermittent tics though there are a small number near the start, together with a little very light crackle.
Overall, there are fairly lengthy passages with no issues, the recording itself is lovely, the playing beautiful, though the vinyl could be in better condition.
Please bear in mind these are old records from the 1950s and were not intended for public release. The discs may benefit from a more substantial clean than I am able to do.
