Description

LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE STUDIO-DANCE BAND 1966-67 -- hard to find, original 1967 U.S. album.  Very good and apparently unknown Modern Jazz LP featuring student musicians from the L.A. Valley College tackling Thelonious Monk's "Straight No Chaser" with impressive results along with uptempo originals like "Song of the Ancient One," "Ambrosia," "Melody," "Two Timer" and excellent R&B organ-powered ""Blues for Organ."  (Note that future Mothers of Invention drummer Denny Bruce attended Los Angeles Valley College at this period but it's unknown if he appears on this or not.)  One of the more obscure albums on the much-loved Century Records private press label out of Southern California.  See photos for track list.  Cover:  VG, ring wear and wear at corners, light stains at middle top of front and back.  Record:  VG-, several light surface marks and light surface wear, moderate scuff on Side Two which doesn't affect play; on Century label, U.S. press.
