Founded as an outlet for music in formats above the 10", the Khaliphonic offshoot of Portland label ZamZam Sounds arrives with its most impressive release to date in the shape of this double LP collection from Los Gaiteros De San Jacinto. Dub De Gaita Volumes II & III is in essence an extension of the debut Khaliphonic release, with the Columbian folk icons once again working with On U Sound man Adrian Sherwood for a devastating 16 track cross pollination of cumbia and dub sounds. It's heartening to see Sherwood as inspired as ever to work with musicians and there is a real chemistry on display through this hypnotic, sub heavy set of tracks.
