Description
All of these are from the same estate and were well stored and maintained. Generally, they all show light scratching over clean visible deep grooves. I will provide a general grade range of VG+ to VG++, some tending closer to VG+, others maybe closer to VG++. They are:
Billie Holiday And Her Orchestra – Strange Fruit / Fine And Mellow. Commodore 526. This was originally produced in 1939; this Reissue was produced in the 1944 -1946 range with the 136 E. 42nd Street address at bottom of labels. This looks like a solid VG+ and may be higher.
Billie Holiday – Gloomy Sunday (The Famous Hungarian Suicide Song) / Night And Day. Columbia – 38044, produced in 1947. This is the Bridgeport Pressing according to the matrices. The shellac here is very clean and may tend toward VG++. There is a scrape in the run-in on the Night and Day side that impinges onto the first 2 grooves, so there may be a small impact to play at the beginning of the song.
Billie Holiday And Her Orchestra – I'll Be Seeing You / I'll Get By. Commodore – C 553, produced in 1944. Clean grooves, a solid VG+
Billie Holiday – Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be?) / That Ole Devil Called Love. Decca 23391, from the "Personality Series", produced in 1945. Solid VG+, maybe closer to VG++.
Billie Holiday And Her Orchestra / Billie Holiday And The Eddie Heywood Trio – I Cover The Waterfront / Lover Come Back To Me. Commodore 559. This was first pressed in 1944, this is a 1945 Repress according to the matrices. This is very clean, closer to VG++.
Billie Holiday And Her Orchestra – I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues / Yesterdays. Commodore 527. First produced in 1939, this is a 1940 Repress with the 136 East 42nd St address on the label. This is a solid VG+
Billie Holiday And The Eddie Heywood Trio / Billie Holiday And Eddie Heywood And His Orchestra – She's Funny That Way / How Am I To Know. Commodore 569, produced in 1946. Looks very clean, tending towards VG++.
