TITLE: LOU DONALDSON – “Sunny Side Up” LP

LABEL: BLUE NOTE RECORDS BLP-4036. Deep-groove “47 West 63rd * NYC” labels. “RVG” and ‘ear’ in dead-wax. Registration mark under the ‘E’ in ‘NOTE’ on the label. Labels are clean, vibrant in colour and exhibit an overall quality one may describe as pristine.

PERSONNEL: LOU DONALDSON (alto sax); BILL HARDMAN (trumpet); HORACE PARLAN (piano); SAM JONES (bass on “Politely”, “Goose Grease” and “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise”); LAYMON JACKSON (bass); AL HAREWOOD (drums).  Recorded by the legendary RUDY VAN GELDER ; super-cool cover design by the great REID MILES ; back cover notes by always fascinating NAT HENTOFF .
