Description

[DUE TO a computer problem, once again I must fall back upon "re-runs."  Of course, it happened at the worst possible time, when I was in the very article of listing this week's new records. This is a temporary glitch which I trust will be solved in the coming week.]

TWO GREAT 1939 BLUEBIRD records - lovely smooth surfaces, master-pressed - of four sizzling hot jazz classics:

Bluebird B-10185  "FATS" WALLER AND HIS BUDDIES, in 1929, blaze through "THE MINOR DRAG" and "HARLEM FUSS." One of the most terrific, spontaneous, astounding jazz records of the whole 1920s. This is the biggest-sounding five-piece band ever captured on wax. The secret weapon was Fats' invincible left hand, as effective as a whole rhythm section. If you've never heard "The Minor Drag," well - - you have GOT to hear it!  E condition.

Bluebird B-10236 LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS ORCHESTRA, in 1932, doing "I HATE TO LEAVE YOU NOW" and "THAT'S MY HOME." This is Louis at the zenith of his "Viper" period, playing his always terrific trumpet and singing, backed up by the outstanding orchestra of CHICK WEBB. Would that they had stuck together, as this band with Louis's unique trumpet was a powerful combination.  E condition.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
