Another from my personal collection, 1st UK pressing 1967 (((mono)) ''Love album ''De Capo'', purchased from new and only initially played to record to tape, then stored in a case with the vinyl removed seperated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! This album is almost as good condition as the day that I purchased it! Impossibly rare for a 43 year old album!!! The version on this LP is a dedicated mono mix which differs from the more common stereo version, and is much more sought after and very collectable like this!.It is on the textured orange & black Elektra label: EKL 4005!!! Both labels state 'Manufactured in England by Elektra Records (U.K.) Ltd.' On initial release, no UK manufactured covers were available for this LP and this copy is housed in an original U.S. printed cover as it was originally purchased. Complete with original plain white inner-sleeve.

Da Capo is the second album by American rock group Love, released in January 1967 by Elektra Records. The bulk of Da Capo was recorded between September 27 and October 2, 1966. "7 and 7 Is" was recorded on June 20, and had been released as a single in July of 1966 backed with "No. Fourteen", an outtake from their debut album. After the recording of "7 and 7 Is", Love's line-up expanded to include Michael Stuart on drums and Tjay Cantrelli on saxophone and flute, moving previous drummer Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer, a classically-trained pianist, to harpsichord and organ. Guitarists Johnny Echols and Bryan MacLean, bassist Ken Forssi and vocalist and leader Arthur Lee retained their respective positions!!.

The album's first half is a departure from the group's debut, and in some ways anticipates the group's third album, Forever Changes, with its detailed, delicate arrangements. Abrasive, proto-punk rockers like "7 and 7 Is" and the harpsichord-driven "Stephanie Knows Who" are balanced by lighter fare such as McLean's florid "Orange Skies", and playful, barely-classifiable pop tunes like "¡Que Vida!".

The album's second half is a single track, notable for being among the very first rock songs to take up an entire LP side (Bob Dylan's "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" from Blonde on Blonde predated it by a few months, and Frank Zappa's "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" suite, on the Freak Out! album, followed Dylan's by just over a month). The 19-minute jam, entitled "Revelation" began life as a live showcase for the group. Some sources claim it evolved out of their interpretation of Howlin' Wolf's "Smokestack Lightning", yet its original title was "John Lee Hooker." The song/jam bears a resemblance to the Rolling Stones' "Goin' Home," recorded at the same studio (RCA) and released earlier in the year, on Aftermath!.

The song "Revelation" was a long jam they did so the musicians could express themselves. The Rolling Stones saw them play at the Brave New World, and they recorded a long song on their next album. After their album came out, they got the blame for copying them!!!

The album's critical reputation has suffered as a result of the inclusion of this track, and many blame producer Paul Rothchild for failing to capture the group's live energy and truncating their performance. It is interesting to note, though, that in a contemporary review of the album, critic Robert Christgau praised "Revelation" faintly for its "excellent guitar and harmonica work and great screaming by a lead singer!

The vinyl

This is the original 39 year old thicker chunky slab of vinyl ,only found like this on earliest mono pressings, much thicker than later reissue pressings! These have deeper grooves and are much more robust! In my opinion these thicker vinyls produce the best audio quality! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from warping!

On initial inspection the vinyls playing surface looks awesome, like new!, it is hard to see a blemish at all! Super glossy opriginal sheen has been retained from new! Only in strong light only possibly, any sleeve removal marks be seen. Any that there might be would be non audio sounding! I can't see any audio sounding marks or needle scratches at all!!

The Audio Quiality

I have played this vinyl at very loud volume on a top system, prior to listing three times and importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! This audio was very near as perfect on my systems! (No) clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps! (no) signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all and amaizingly no static background crackle, in fact I have only ever played this to record to tape and then stored in a case for over 40 years! Unbeleivable for 43 years old! Absolutely superbe top top mono audio! The audio must grade at least  very near to as perfect throughout on my systems!

It is important to note that this original mono version differs from the stereo version, and these original monos in this condition are vurtually impossible to ever find like this!! 

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static  (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 43 year old system!!! It is important to note that I heard no problems at all on my systems graded as near mint throughout!!

Please note! This has been stored in a case for at least 40 years! Any static  that might be heard during some quiet parts could be minimised by constant cleaning before each play in my experiance!, Build up of dust and dirt that has accumilated over the years from the vinyl being stored! laying dormant! Aconstant clean before each play is recomended, this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!  I would class myself as highly critical ! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!

These are the original 1st issue Red Electra labels in superbe condition!  There is little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue US ELECTRA printed gatefold cover! This is in awesome condition throughout, without any splits or tares (no)  creases to talk of. Amaizinly no real storgeware worth to mention. All print is legible! This must grade at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion!

Please do not underestemate the rarety of this awesome 43 year old album in this condition. The original and most sought after ((mono)) an archive copy, never need to upgrade!!
