***One of the most BEAUTIFUL and IMPORTANT  albums in rock history. This statement has a 'UNIVERSAL CONSENSUS.'*** Check it out...

“***** (out of five)—Indescribably essential.”—Dave Marsh, Rolling Stone Record Guide. The third and final album by the original Love lineup, Forever Changes is universally recognized as the L.A.-based psychedelic folk-rock pioneers’ most fully realized studio effort. Produced by band co-founder Arthur Lee and The Doors’ engineer/producer Bruce Botnik, and released by Elektra in early ’68, the album features Lee’s tremulous vocals, striking melodies, evocative orchestral arrangements, and inscrutable but poetic lyrics. Had Love toured to support this album (Lee adamantly refused), the underground cult heroes would no doubt have achieved worldwide fame that year.

When I did that album," commented Arthur Lee, "I thought I was going to die at that particular time, so those were my last words." This is borne out by perhaps the most famous lines from the album, on the song "The Red Telephone":

"Sitting on a hillside Watching all the people die I'll feel much better on the other side."

"...Forever Changes continues to regularly appear on critics' lists of the top ten rock albums of all time, and it had an enormously far-reaching and durable influence that went way beyond chart listings. The best fusion of folk-rock and psychedelia, it features Arthur Lee's trembling vocals, beautiful melodies, haunting orchestral arrangements, and inscrutable but poetic lyrics, all of which sound nearly as fresh and intriguing upon repeated plays. One of rock's most organic, flowing masterpieces, every song has a lingering, shimmering beauty, including the two penned by the band's other talented songwriter/guitarist/singer, Bryan MacLean."   (Courtesy Allmusic)

CONDITION OF THE RECORD:

(IMPORTANT NOTE: We grade ALL records under a strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight).

  • WE GRADE THE VINYL AS VG+++.   This album probably is just below NEAR-MINT but does not qualify to be graded NEAR-MINT. CAUTION>if you are a rigorous and demanding collector, this album may be VG++ for your standards, or below your expectations. Yes, the original luster is very much in tact, and the vinyl is quite beautiful. The record does, however, show a minimum number of faint, surface marks (a few superficial surface scratches - one may be as long as 1 inch; 1 inch = 2.5 centimeters). These surface marks can be seen under a STRONG light. CAUTION>When played, a minimum number of these marks cause a few, scattered, light and insignificant background tics~some will not hear these.
  • The record is pressed on a beautiful high quality, thick, inflexible vinyl, which is used for first or very first early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, bright and rich in quality.
  • Quality speaking, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior digital recording!!
  • Record comes in its original 1967 inner-sleeve and in a 'HI-GRADE' MFSL PVC INNER SLEEVE for protection. Please see picture below.
