VINYL is VG
Very Clean, High Gloss Vinyl has several small, light, non-feelable surface scratches, viewed under hard bright light, that are almost entirely inaudible. Play-tested LP plays well above its grade, mostly EX to NM with a very few occasional tics. Labels are bright and clean with light spindle marks on side 2 label. Side 1 label is pristine with no marks.

COVER is VG
Crisp, very clean unfaded cover would rate a solid high VG+ or better, but for a small, faded ballpoint name written on back cover (on white jacket of Ken Forssi). Not very obtrusive at all, but I can't rate any cover with writing on it at higher than VG. Very light shelf wear evident under close examination. All edges straight, all corners sharp. Seams and spine are completely intact with no splits. Spine titles are perfectly legible, sharp and crisp with no wear.

Simply a stunning debut - LOVE - already the darlings of the Sunset Strip and Folk-Rock heroes to so many L.A. bands, including the nascent DOORS …Jim Morrison famously quoted back then saying that their biggest dream and aspiration was basically to become as big as LOVE. Well, the Doors indeed followed LOVE to ELEKTRA and made their own history; never looking back, once Light My Fire hit the airwaves...

This 1st LOVE LP is chock-full of shimmering Folk-Psych and vital Garage Rock brilliance.
Too easily overlooked these days, in the critics’ clamor to rhapsodize over “Forever Changes”, a fine, very worthy album in its own right of course, but with its airy, refined, production-centric sound, that LP was mostly missing the pathos, gritty toughness and fearless passion that ARTHUR LEE and LOVE were so great at delivering. That’s what you find here in all its glory (and on their next LP: “Da Capo”)

who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s.
Sadly he has now finally left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.
