The Lovelites had a great sound that mixed raw vocals with a sweet harmony, in a manner that would later have a profound influence on many other groups in the city. The girls struck big with their first early hit "How Can I Tell My Mom And Dad?, an incredibly haunting tale of teen pregnacy and indecision. The whole set was put together by producer Clarance Johnson, who handled the group. Clarence also recorded a young Denice "Niecy" Williams (known then as Denice Chandler) -- who was briefly a member of the Lovelites.
"WITH LOVE FROM THE LOVELITES" is oddly enough a very rare soul LP on a common label (Uni).
