Description
This is an original American 33.3 RPM Monaural Long Playing Record from 1954 titled "SANDHOG". Label / Number is Vanguard VRS-9001. This is very Rare and Unusual Album. Composer Earl Robinson and Screenwriter Waldo Salt combined their talents to create A Folk Opera about the men who worked on the first great tunnel under the Hudson River , which was started in 1874 and completed in 1908. A Feature Article by Theodore Dreiser is the original source. On this recording, Robinson sings and plays piano and Salt narrates. There was never a Full Cast album, but this "Composer's Run-Through" is quite powerful. Record has a few scuffs and occasional surface noise, but plays very well with fine fidelity. Labels have little wear. Cover has some ring wear, corner scuffs, light staining and a 2 1/2" split in the upper right seam.. Condition is: Record - VG+(+) Labels - VG++ Cover - VG+(+) Historic and Hard-To-Find.
