Description
If you've never heard one of these remasters of landmark recordings compared to the standard pressing, you won't believe the difference. A&M released a series of these albums mastered at half speed. This allowed for better groove cutting, heat dissipation, and less concerns about the cutting head driver amplifier clipping or distorting.
I owned several of these re-issues and they were a huge improvement over the original standard pressings. In addition to the half-speed mastering, the vinyl formulation was better as well, resulting in less rumble, distortion, and greater durability.
I purchased this LP new in 1980. It was played on high end equipment. Because I owned multiple different pressings of this album, this particular copy was rarely played. I would guess that it was played only four times, maximum. In original plastic jacket cover.
