CONDITION

VINYL : a lovely piece / shiny throughout and is in superb condition / no lead-in or lead-out noise / no in-between track noise / no spindle marks / no scuff marks and the reproduction is perfect / very difficult to fault sound-wise and rated Near Mint.

LABELS : Clean and as new

SLEEVE : a superb laminated cover here / no writing, splits, marks and the spine is intact / no edge-wear of any note / a touch of ring-wear on the non-laminated back cover however only faint along with a couple of odd age spots as per the 3rd photo above …just about as good as it gets I imagine for this rarity.

DESCRIPTION

A lovely and impossibly scarce 1976 LP from Aussie country star Gordon Parsons who is also remembered for penning ‘The Pub With No Beer’ amongst other favourites.

This album features Gordon captured ‘live’ at (mostly) the National Theatre, Launceston in 1960 and 1964 …reportedly one of the best theatres around in those days for acoustics and this record is certainly proof of that .

The songs here represent almost all of the surviving tapes recorded during Gordon’s memorable Tasmanian performances from that period.

In fantastic condition this LP is no doubt a real gem for fans.

MORE NOTES

Gordon Parsons was a quietly spoken, tall, attractive country singer born in 1926 in Paddington, Sydney, NSW. An only child, he moved to Bellingen NSW with his parents in 1929.
In 1937 he received his first guitar by mail order and was soon known for his talent around the district. He left home at the ripe old age of 14 years, later working as a sleeper cutter and becoming a very skilled axeman. The lonely existence during Gordon’s formative years saw him develop a love and appreciation of the bush and has always shone through in his songwriting …this no doubt led to him being later dubbed ‘the yodeling bushman’.
Gordon was persuaded to enter "Terry Dear's Amateur Hour." Coming second, he was offered a recording deal with Regal Zonophone Records.
A real "Aussie" and a man's man, he was one of the best and a typical old time showman. Gordon married Zelda, a member of the Ashton's Circus family, and continued to record in to the 80’s. He was elevated to the Roll Of Renown in 1982 and passed on in 1990 ; a bust of Gordon stands in Tamworth alongside three other great Australian Country Music pioneers, Tex Morton, Buddy Williams and Stan Coster.
