This listing is for one (1) 1986 CLUB PARADISE SOUNDTRACK featuring JIMMY CLIFF LP vinyl record album on CBS/Columbia Records. This rare LP comes from my personal record collection, so it has been handled and stored very carefully. It is used and is in excellent playing condition with just a few visible light/minimal surface scuffs or scratches. The cover shows just a little shelf wear, and the inside jacket shows just a little wear as well. Plays very clean, with just a few audible pops and clicks here and there. Jimmy Cliff took time away from his regular studio album recording to co-star in and write & perform music for the soundtrack to the 1986 Warner Bros. feature film, "Club Paradise," which starred Robin Williams and Peter O'Toole. While the movie itself was fairly forgettable, the soundtrack included typically catchy Jimmy Cliff tunes that stayed in one's head after leaving the theater. I know this because it happened to me, and prompted me to head straight to my local record store for a copy of the soundtrack. You'll be drawn into the island life right from the first note of, "The Lion Awakes," and the other Cliff contributions like, "You Can't Keep A Good Man Down," "American Plan," "Third World People," "Brightest Star," and "Club Paradise," will keep you there until the final note of the soundtrack. The featured single from the soundtrack (and the least reggae/island-sounding track), "Seven Day Weekend," is a collaboration between Jimmy Cliff and Elvis Costello, and was co-produced by Nick Lowe, all three names of considerable note. To this day, "American Plan," and "Club Paradise," remain among my favorite Jimmy Cliff tunes, and one of the non-Cliff songs on the soundtrack, "Love People," deserves a mention, since it is a really well-crafted reggae tune by the Blue Riddim Band. Great filler album between Cliff's award winning 1985 "Cliff Hanger" album and his excellent 1988 "Hanging Fire" release. A nice addition to anyone's LP collection! From a pet-free, non-smoking home. Enjoy!
