The vinyl is near perfect, looks great and bright at normal daylight. Under a strong light bulb there are some non sounding removal hairlines visible when angled.  The only exception, you can listen to some pops between the first and the second track caused by a light small stain of the vinyl on B-side (you can listen the tracks here below). Record play perfect. Do not jump or other. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping.

Cover cond.: EX

Some problems: a big tear on the front cover and a tiny tear on the back cover colored with a brush, a small colored tear with a felt-tip pen and a stamp inside cover. (look at the pictures). The rest is almost perfect.

A metà degli anni 80 ho lavorato nel più importante negozio di dischi di Roma. In quegli anni un commerciante della citta ligure La Spezia iniziò a fabbricare dei falsi dischi rarissimi, soprattutto dischi della Vertigo, RCA Neon, Middle Earth, Stable.

Alcuni erano (sono) veramente perfetti con le copertine apribili esattamente come gli originali (addirittura alcune gimmix cover) e le etichette fotocopiate molto molto accuratamente; veramente difficili distinguerli dagli originali. Il prezzo di vendita era quello di un comune lp nuovo (13.000 lire circa 7€).

Per chi come me ha avuto modo di averli avuti tra le mani per alcuni anni è facile riconoscerli.

Mi sono deciso a scrivere queste poche righe perchè, purtroppo, oggi vedo vendere questi dischi come originali magari con una busta swirl originale per accreditarne l'autenticità, a prezzi vergognosi da commercianti inesperti o peggio.

Per riconoscere i falsi dagli originali come ho detto non è facile, un modo è quello di controllare il numero della matrice nella DEAD WAX cioè nella parte non incisa all'esterno della label. Negli originali è stampata a macchina mentre nei falsi ha una diversa numerazione o è incisa con calligrafia “a mano”.

In the mid 80s I worked in the largest Rome record store. In those years, a seller in the Ligurian town of "La Spezia" started making false LPs (counterfeit or fake) very rare, especially records of swirl Vertigo, RCA Neon, Middle Earth, Stable.

Some were (are) really perfect with the covers that open exactly like the originals (even some gimmix cover) and labels photocopied very very carefully; really difficult to distinguish them from the originals. The sale price was that of a common new lp (13,000 lire about 7 €).

For those like me who have had the opportunity to have them in their hands many times it is easy to recognize.

I decided to write these few lines because, unfortunately, today I see selling these records as original perhaps with an original Vertigo inner sleeve accredit the authenticity, priced shameful, by inexperienced traders or worse.

To recognize the fakes from the originals as I said it is not easy, one way is to check the number of the matrix in DEAD WAX (the area not printed outside the label). In the original it is machine stamped while the fake is stamped with calligraphy "by hand"or has a different numbering .

Record Collector Magazine Grading System

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. 

NEAR MINT (NM OR M-)
A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.” In other words, it’s nearly perfect. Many dealers won’t use a grade higher than this, implying (perhaps correctly) that no record or sleeve is ever truly perfect.

NM records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable. Major factory defects also must be absent; a record and label obviously pressed off center is not Near Mint. If played, it will do so with no surface noise. (NM records don’t have to be “never played”; a record used on an excellent turntable can remain NM after many plays if the disc is properly cared for.)

NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits of any kind

EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. 

VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. 

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. 

FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. 

POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. 

BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
