The answer to those questions came soon with world-wide acclaim. The mini-LP immediately hit number 1 in the alternate charts in Italy, France, and Holland, and received rave reviews in the U.K., U.S. and Canada.
Chandler's vocals and the Outta Place's straight fresh delivery will probably never be equaled or surpassed. This second LP is the Outta Place legacy.
All the instrumental tracks were recorded prior to Chandler's final move to the Raunch Hands. Chandler cut the vocal tracks after he left the band, through persuasion from roommate and band cohort Jordan. The vocals were recorded in their apartment one night despite Chandler's drunken state of mind, his growing disgust with psychedelic punk, and against peer pressure. Well,we're glad he did it anyway 'cause this is quite a record and one can only wonder what the Outta Place would be now if they had not broken up in 1984.
The Outta Place Legacy
Jordan Tarlow-also known as Nadroj
-Nadroj & the Wolrats-Midnight Xmess #1-"Forget It", a revamped version of the Sonics tune with lyrics by Chandler.
-Produced Vipers 1st LP and Morlocks LP, as well as both
Outta Place mini-LPs for Midnight.
-Left for L.A., & played with the last incarnation of the Morlocks.
-Joined the Fuzztones when Rudi moved to L.A., and toured with the Fuzztones new line-up spring 1987.
Jordan and Mike Chandler also cut under the moniker of the
Frosted Flaykes, a great underrated single on Midnight.
Orin Portnoy
-Teamed up with brother Elan Portnoy (original Fuzztones) under the name "The Twisted" and released a one and only, highly appraised 7" on Midnight. There is talk of a second Twisted single, and Mike Chandler may also be involved.
-Orin is now with the Optic Nerve. Check out their single on Cryptovision!
Shari
-Now the lead singer for an all-girls blues punk band the Maneaters. So far the band is unrecorded.
Mike Chandler
-Co-wrote several songs for the Fuzztones.
-Lead singer of the Raunch Hands-check their wax!
Andrea
-Drummed for the Maneaters, then the Blacklight Chameleons (featuring Dino, ex-Mad Violets, LP on Voxx).
-Currently with the Freaks (with John Fay, ex-Tryfles)
FORCED EXPOSURE #12- Summer, 1987
OUTTA PLACE: OUTTA TOO!-
...not the earnestly panty-gobbling cuss-out I'd hoped for, but the second rec by Chandler's pre-Raunch Hands combo is still okay. Six Sixties covers done with a bit too much organ, plus one swinging original, all sung through a mouth that's as beer-sodden as Charlie Weaver's leiderhosen.---BYRON

Outta, too! (Midnight) 1987
Of NYC's short-lived but plentiful litter of garage revivalists, this quintet was the last to form, the first to reach vinyl and probably the only ones young enough not to have been around for the real thing. On their debut, "New York's own cave teens" display plenty of raunch, ripping through seven songs in the most distorted mono imaginable, with cheesy two-finger organ bleats and Mike Chandler's epileptic-fit shrieks. They also display plenty of chutzpah: changing two words of Chob's garage classic "we're Pretty Quick" gets Chandler a writing credit and the band a titular theme song.
Begun in '84, Outta Too! was completed and issued three years after the band's demise. Chandler, who had left to front the even more over-the-top Raunch Hands agreed to a sodden evening of vocal sessions and presto! it's 1984 (or was that 1966?) all over again. Outta Place bassist Jordan Tarlowe is currently in the Fuzztones, and drummer Andrea Matthews plays with '70's monsters Freaks. - Trouser Press Record Guide 4th Ed
