Description
RARE AND DESIRABLE, PRICED HOWEVER FOR COLLECTOR VALUE BECAUSE THE LP IS VISUALLY GRADED LOW.
This is part of the, Thesaurus of Classic Jazz Series, described on discogs as a "Compilation" that is "Remastered". Columbia – CL 1654, MONO released in 1961. The jacket has original shrink but a previous owner affixed it in place with clear tape on the bottom and top edges, and on both sides of the jacket; not on the spine. This has kept the jacket in VERY NICE CONDITION, with light corner wear, no discernable edge wear, no marks or rings. The LP is stored in a plain white inner sleeve. The discogs listing which fits this record provides these notes: "Issued on red "six-eye" Columbia labels with "CBS" at top; Back liner variation, with no fabrication code printed on lower right of rear sleeve; Otherwise unidentified Columbia pressing with deep groove pressing ring" and these matrices:
Matrix / Runout (Side A runout): XLP53016-2A ////-1 Matrix / Runout (Side B runout): XLP53017-2A
There is actually a good amount of clean vinyl surface, but also a number of visible scratches, some of which are faintly feelable. I am disappointed but in the interest of being conservative and fair, I will give an overall grade of F to G, and will price it significantly lower than the median price of the three other mono 1961 pressings - no sales listed for this "unidentified Columbia pressing" on discogs, but many more desiring than having the LPs.
