Tapestry was King's second solo album and became a massive commercial and critical success. It is celebrated for its intimate, confessional lyrics and piano-driven musical arrangements, setting the standard for the singer-songwriter movement of the 1970s. The production, guided by Lou Adler, was deliberately sparse to mimic the intimacy of King's simple piano/vocal demos.
