I bought this LP new in July 1971.
Cover - Shrink on. Cutout grommet bottom right corner. Price tag residue on shrink. Top right corner has a bend, crease line visible on back. Mild corner bumps. No writing, no seam splits to cardboard. CSC is printed on back cover, bottom left. LP title printed both on spine and top edge.
Vinyl - Couple finger smudges, very close to new looking. Plays without problem.
Sleeve - Plain white paper.
Deadwax:

At the end of each deadwax description, above, is another peculiarity. Could be a 4 with 3 dots under it. Upside down from that, it could be a (whatever) with 3 fireworks coming from it.
More than likely, it’s a very rough attempt to etch a T, for a Terre Haute pressing, using dots. The last picture of the 24 shows a very enlarged version, blurry, which resembles a T composed of dots.

The Discogs entries for the Terre Haute claims all have the same label printing as I have. That is the “KINDA KINKS THE KINKS A Shel Talmy Production”, above the gray “reprise:” banner is all the way to the right of the label. On the Discogs Pitman and Santa Maria examples that printing is close to the green steamboat. That helps persuade me my copy is a Terre Haute pressing.
Only their 2nd studio album, and Ray is offering early examples of his ability to not just rock.
We were in for a career of song-writing brilliance.
Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight, Everybody’s Gonna Be Happy, Goy My Feet on the Ground still provide the KINKS action songs. Nothin’ in the World …, So Long, Something Better Beginning, demonstrate Ray’s ability to instill genuine emotion into guitar, bass, drum arrangements.
Aaah, the KINKS, once you’re hooked, you’re hooked.
