(..BEYOND IT ALL....) by ( HP ZINKER )...... ....( a fan saysL It's a bit sad that people seem to only talk about this album in the context of whether it was "the first metal album", comparing Blue Cheer against a genre they were never trying to be part of (and only partially because it didn't exist yet). Rather, Vincebus Eruptum stands on its own as one of the cornerstones of a related but separate lineage of "extreme" psychedelic rock. The combination of Hendrix-like psychedelic blues rock with very high volume, extreme distortion and bass frequencies and in some cases straight up noise is echoed in everyone from Hawkwind to Guru Guru, to stoner rock bands like Kyuss, to Japanese noise-psych like High Rise and Acid Mothers Temple to even modern "psych metal" bands like Oranssi Pazuzu and Neptunian Maximalism.
