PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original super deluxe limited edition with nice full color cover and triple thick (weighty) 180gram platter .... previously unreleased SOUNDBOARD QUALITY ....1976 UK performance:
Three one day stadium festivals hosted by the Who and the last of of two epic gigs at Charlton for the band . Once again there was violence and a great deal of confusion at the London venue due to forged tickets and gatecrashers. Many with legitimate tickets could not get in , but were given a free bus ride to the Swansea show as compensation.
The Who ran on stage to wild applause and Keith Moon slipped on the wet stage and skidded across it on his arse. No one was really sure if it was one of his antics or an accident! Great set that included a lot of Tommy and Who’s Next material (arguably their finest two albums). Highlights were My Wife (which has been subsequently officially released), Summertime Blues and Won’t Get Fooled Again which was complete with a stunning laser show that crisscrossed above the audiences heads.
Billed as “Who Put The Boot In”, this was an all day event with Streetwalkers, Little Feat, The Outlaws, and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band with The Who headlining. The soundboard from The Who’s set has been in circulation since the day after the event (it seems) as "Live At Swansea June 1976"
The guitar and vocals are predominant in the right channel and the rhythm section in the left.
“Baba O’Riley” sounds very heavy in this show, and Moon introduces “Squeeze Box” stating that “as always the Who are on top of everything” The long “My Generation” jam and medley is reminiscent of the classic performances from the early days before the show ends with a twelve minute version of “Won’t Get Fooled Again”.
The Who stopped touring after 1976, largely as a result of Keith Moon’s failing health, caused by alcohol issues. Keith Moon died on 7th Sept 1978 of an overdose of heminevrin, prescribed to combat alcoholism. The Who’s 1978 album “Who Are You” was released two weeks before his death. Keith Moon was one of rock’s finest drummers, but he was so much more. Moon was the crazy, manic, childish fun side of The Who; the perfect foil to Townshend’s moods, and although The Who would continue as a strong rock force, a Who concert could never be quite the same again.
Tape of this show exists with Pete making wise cracks to the audience throughout the evening, and at one point shouted out to stop a fight at the front of the crowd. You can hear Keith Moon shouting at Townshend: “Shut up! ….. You’d think you’ve got some kind of vested interest. I’ve seen your vests, and they stink…underneath this I’m totally nude, Peter! I don’t need any of your great flowing poncey robes. I don’t need all your glittering sequins to be a star! I don’t need to jump in the air, flash what little crotch I’ve got. And I must admit I’ve had no complaints.”
