COVER: STILL SEALED ~Beautifully preserved in the original manufacturer's shrink-wrap; all edges are straight with no wear, all corners are still sharp, and the original shrink is only broken in two very tiny spots (one is just inside the "S" in Space on Front Cover and the other is at the lower right corner. See PHOTO1) This certainly may have helped keep the record flat through all these years of being sealed. The plastic has not bent or bowed this album an iota. It is still PERFECTLY FLAT! There is a LIGHT crease in lower right corner -so light that it only shows on the front and the ink is not a bit broken or worn. The back has no breaks in the plastic wrap and is snapping bright. This LP has NO mold or spotting on or beneath the shrink-wrap.VINYL: MINT ~Unopened-Unplayed!

I have been sorely tempted to open this baby up on a number of occasions, but have so-far resisted the urge; therefor you now have the opportunity to acquire a STILL-SEALED original pressing of this amazing and legendary LP.
For aficionados of Incredibly Strange Music, Lucia Pamela is a gift from God: a senior citizen who made a totally unknown, crudely recorded album in 1969 that sounded like a garage nursing-home band. Pamela was a former Miss St. Louis and veteran entertainer with several decades of "musical" experience under her belt by the time she recorded Into Outer Space, although there seems to be no reliable way of compiling accurate biographical data. Like the much more famous Mrs. Miller, Pamela couldn't "sing" well in the conventional sense, but sang with the confidence of one who knows she is one of the best. Into Outer Space sounds like a time-warp '20s swing band-cum ragtime-cum "rickety Cantina Jazz", fronted by a wedding-party guest who's downed too many stiff ones. Most of the material comes from the pen of Pamela herself, who devised nursery rhyme-like ditties about walking on the moon, Indian alphabet chants, the year 2000, and only slightly less cockeyed love songs. Pamela faded into obscurity and died at the age of 98 on July 25, 2002 in a hospital in Los Angeles.

"Nearly 30 [Written in 1993] years ago Lucia Pamela loaded her pink Cadillac up with some musician friends, a slew of instruments, a weird batch of space ballads, and headed for the moon. Their mission? Not some pre-Apollo scientific space exploration, but rather the first, and possibly only, interplanetary recording session (unless, of course, you consider some of Sun Ra's early intergalactic jazz explorations). The product of this expedition was the now legendary Into Outer Space with Lucia Pamela.
Lucia insists Into Outer Space was recorded on the moon. Not only that, she's not entirely happy with lunar acoustics. "The air is so thin everything sounds different up there", she once noted in an annoyed tone. Certainly those primitive recording facilities contributed to the unique sound of Lucia's crudely recorded cult classic. How to explain the sound of Into Outer Space? For starters, one critic called Lucia the "missing link between Sun Ra and the Shaggs". That's a start, but it's nowhere near the complete story. Lucia isn't nearly derivative enough to be neatly pigeonholed between other artists, no matter how out-there they may be.
Approximate the following and come to your own conclusions: Into Outer Space with Lucia Pamela is the sound of a ragtime band lost in another galaxy, hopelessly whacked out on alien hallucinogens, desperately trying to pull together history's strangest concept album. Which is exactly what Into Outer Space is -- a startlingly weird concept album. The premise: Lucia pays a visit to Moontown and reports back on her findings. An Indian wedding. More oriental people than she expected. Lots of animals. No taxes. A virtual paradise. Except of course for the recording facilities. For those of you having trouble visualizing Lucia's adventure, the entire mission was documented in the extremely rare Lucia Pamela Coloring Book." [NOT INCLUDED in this AUCTION!]

While Into Outer Space was Lucia's first (and apparently only) commercial release, her long and illustrious musical career is recounted in vivid detail in the original liner notes to Into Outer Space with Lucia Pamela.
Regarding the Coloring Book:.
Central to the Lucia Pamela myth is the legend of the "Into Outer Space" coloring book. The book helps visualize the concepts that Lucia touches on in the recording. It's a sci-fi-folk-art adventure story, complete with smoking dogs and nut people. Lucia sponsored an international coloring contest beginning in 1969. She was still accepting entries up until a short time before her death -not wanting to rush anyone.
The coloring contest was memorialized in a brilliant song by the British band Stereolab. "International Colouring Contest" sounds like it might have been the theme to the Lucia Pamela Variety Hours, circa 1959. You can hear the song on the group's "Mars Audiac Quintet" album.
Although Lucia tells her close friends that she traveled to the Moon in her pink Cadillac, the coloring book has Lucia and her friends building a rocket for their journey.
Upon arriving on the moon, Lucia encountered a thriving Moon culture. An alien Wedding was in progress. The coloring book at this point includes the notation: "Sacred word is Dog. God spelled backwards". This may refer to some strange moon cult.
The last image from the coloring book shown here depicts Lucia romping on the Moon with her friends. Although the Dog appears to be smoking, Lucia has stated "it isn't really a dog. It's a man in a dog suit." That really clarifies things.
