Description : This is the unique Australian only Stereo release of his long lost and now cult classic La De Da's 1969 album The Happy Prince…. and a 'promo' pressing at that.
This pysch-drenched effort is rarely sighted nowadays this copy is a great pick-up for fans that is sure to make an impressive addition to your collection.
Album background info : While preparing for their second album, Trevor Wilson envisaged a time when rock music would be taken a little more seriously, and he had something in mind which would keep the group well ahead of local contemporaries, and even make them stand out in the international arena. He wanted to create a rock opera and adapt the childrens' tale written by Oscar Wilde, "The Happy Prince", but Bruce Howard was the only other enthusiastic band member. Even so, they started to work on piecing it together. It would take a number of years for it to be completed. It was also the beginning of a division within the band.
With new drummer Keith Barber (ex-Wild Cherries) on board, the band set about recording its ambitious concept album, the first of it's kind recorded in Australia. 1969 also turned out to be the year of the rock opera (The Pretty Things' S.F. Sorrow, The Who's Tommy, The Kinks' Arthur) and, upon its release in April, The Happy Prince was praised for its quality musicianship and production values. Despite the fine playing it never really caught on with the public and duly sank without a trace.

VINYL ~. This album is in tip-top condition. Thick as a brick at over 140 grams ……………Clean and glossy throughout, unmarked and it tracks through like a dream both sides with some light background noise here in there in the quieter narrative parts. No skips and Rated VG+ which is probably as good as it gets for this scarce LP.
Labels ~ Both labels are clean.
JACKET ~ The sleeve probably doesn't get that much better either. Some light creases on the front and minor soil stains on the white rear cover however no writing or splits and the spine is intact. Overall a more than acceptable sleeve that doesn't surface that often and should not disappoint.
