La Lupe recorded these 2 songs as part of a complete album in Cuba just weeks before she was forced to leave Cuba for New York. She was accompanied by the Felipe Dulzaides Combo which broke barriers in Cuba by playing jazz and rock and adding those elements into his music much to the disapproval of the marxist government that frowned upon "imperalistic" music. Shortly after Lupe's arrival to New York Mongo Santamaria asked her to record with her on the Battle Recordis label before La Lupe teamed up with Tito Puente for a series of splendid albums catapulting La Lupe to stardom
