With the obvious exception of the first two privately issued albums this has just got to be one of the very rarest albums on this fiercly collected label, this is only the second copy I’ve had in thirty years.

Acoustic folk blues recorded in New York by just Larry and his guitar this is actually quite a good LP too, I’m not the biggest blues fan in the world so that’s quite a compliment coming from me but I enjoyed this a lot. The guitar playing is excellent and he has a pleasant deep voice with a lazy vocal style which suits the music perfectly, the comparison that sprang to mind listening to this is an acoustic Robert Cray but playing in a much more traditional style. Nice album and a lovely copy too and a truly bizarre sleeve design!

Condition:

Sleeve: Very strong. It’s a typical Blue Horizon sleeve made of thinish card with a very thin laminated finish on the front only manufactured by Shorepack Packaging Co Ltd. It has the Patents Pending notation but that don’t matter in this case as there’s no way there’s a later pressing of this one!

The front is just lovely and really shows that lobster off to good effect! It’s very clean with no tears, or writing anywhere. The laminate is bright and clear with only a couple of really minor creases coming in from the spine near the top, nothing to worry about. There is a small patch of residue on the right hand side near the top (beneath the Blue Horizon logo) where a sticker was removed (not by me!), this isn’t a tear it’s just a little bit of a mark which the glue’s left on the sleeve and there is a very small patch of “lifting” of the laminate, this really is very minor and at arms length you’ll never notice it, in fact I’ve just held the sleeve about a foot from my face and I couldn’t see this mark and I know it’s there! The corners are the parts which usually show wear first on a sleeve such as this but these are clean and square with no damage at all. It’ll be very difficult to find a better copy than this.

The unlaminted rear sleeve is in equally nice condition, clean, with no writing, tears or creasing anywhere. There’s a small amount of aging to the black parts, not really damage as such, it’s just been rubbed a bit when being taken on and off the shelf, this is very minor and I can’t imagine anyone having any complaints about it.

The top seam is totally unworn.

The bottom seam is also totally unworn.

The spine is totally unworn and is square and clean with all of the writing clearly readable.

Record: The disc is just superb. It’s made of thickish vinyl which is incredibly clean. When viewed under normal light there literally isn’t a mark to be seen, it’s just a beautiful looking copy with that nice deep dark sheen to the vinyl which only rarely played records have. When viewed under a harsh 100w lamp it’s equally as good with no visible marks at all not even any of the light hairline marks caused by taking the record in and out of it’s sleeve.

The two labels are in perfect condition. Both are very clean with no writing, stickers or tears and very little spindle wear.

When played it’s just as good as you could possibly hope for. It has a lovely clean clear sound right across the full dynamic range with the sound just leaping out of the speakers. There’s a complete lack of background surface noise, it’s totally silent both during the quieter parts of the music and between tracks there is no noise at all even at high volume.

You simply will not find a significantly better copy than this easily, and finding any copy at all will be a challenge. If you have any interest in this album then I wouldn’t let this copy get away because it could be a long while before you see another in this sort of condition!

If you do decide to bid for this item I wish you luck and if not, well, thanks for looking and remember to look at my other items for sale you may find something more to your taste there.
