Description

Probably a 'once in a lifetime' find. A genuine one sided 7" white label test pressing of Freddie Mercury's first record release, which was made under the pseudonym of Larry Lurex.

This disc was actually owned and played to his friends by Freddie himself, and then given to a long-term employee, who is the current owner of the disc. The version featured on this record is about 20 seconds longer than the stock copies that were eventually pressed and released.

The record features a standard EMI press-out centre and the matrix number "LL 1" in normal EMI typeset in the run-off groove. Since the disc was given by Freddie, it has been played only once on a high quality Denon deck with a tracking weight of 1.5 grammes, purely to verify it's authenticity (so whatever crackles and clicks are on the disc, you have a good idea who put them there!).

The 'B' side features a standard EMI test pressing tone for approx 2 minutes. The record will come with a full letter of authenticity from the ex-employee (the current owner) stating that it was given to him personally by Freddie, and the full story about how and why.

The record sounds as though it has been played a few times, but looks in very good visual condition.

I've been collecting Queen for 30 years and have never seen another quite like this. Only serious bids please!
