Description
ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE VINYL!
Seldom seen in UK auctions is a 'Promotional Copy' Stereo pressing of Larry Young's Contrasts (Blue Note BST 84264). Great album from this rare, collectible & underrated artist from the 1960s Blue Note stable, pushing organ jazz into post-bop and beyond (in collaboration with Tyrone Washington on saxophone). I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading is based on how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
Vinyl is strong VG+ in audio terms, playing with very limited occasional crackle between tracks, and even less detectable noise during the music itself. VAN GELDER stamp is present in the deadwax. Visually I'd grade as less strong VG+, on the basis of a cosmetic mark on side 1 and a few similar but smaller ones on side 2, none of which actually affect the audio. Labels are Blue Note Liberty, indicating a Liberty-era Stereo pressing. The label on side 1 has a few small marks; side 2 is in excellent condition.
Original cover has a 'PROMOTIONAL COPY' stamp in the top left corner. I've graded it Very Good overall, due to a small amount of ringwear at the base of the front cover, and some marks down the left-hand side of the back cover which is also noticeably less white than the front (I've provided appropriate visuals in the photo section). The cover is structurally sound with no splits (including intact spine) and the front cover pictures are unmarked.

Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
