Las Mosquitas Mardi Gras 5029 NY All Girl Latin Beat DJ Promo 1965 LP NM-/VG+

via web:
One of the most talented female bands I've had the joy to come across have been four fab females from the fair country of Argentina - behold, Las Mosquitas! Comprising of Pupé, Nita, Nené and Diana - their appropriation of traditional Latin rhythms with beat backed with solid playing skills works a treat! Pupé, 20 (at the time of the recording of their album), came from the distinguished Saltena family, loved to cook and was characterised by a melancholy, almost sad persona. She studied classical music from an early age till she dropped Liszt's sonatas for the modern rhythms! Nita, 21, hailed from Buenos Aires. By her parents' will she studies classical music and ballet until she discovered the "twist." However apparently it did not stop her pursuing some late night hobbies - philosophy and painting! Nené, 20, was the shy member of the group. She abandoned her plans to study medicine when at the age of 14 she decided she wanting to don a habit and become a Nun - almost! The notes also urge young bachelors to note that Nené's final hobby...is cleaning! Final member Dina, 18, is the most joyous and playful of the group - preferring too to be pampered and spoiled by her those around her. Hailing from La Rioja - she left school and headed to the capital to carve out a career in the music industry. All girls sing while Nené and Pupé strum guitar, while Nita wields the bass and Dina drums the drums. Here's what the English blurb had to say about the fab foursome ::

There's something international about the music of today. You can hear the blues inflection in that Liverpool sound. The Motown beat is distinctive and distinguished. There are young groups and new sounds in Germany and Australia and Japan. It's happening all over the world these days.

The music of today is happening in Argentina, too. There it's a totally new sound. This time it combines a Latin beat with Rock. This is the sound and style of Las Mosquitas, four young an attractive beatle-haired girls who sing an shake their way to fervent performances. They've affected audiences in Spain and Latin-America and other European arenas.

This is the first album of a collection of Las Mosquitas songs. Included is Si Llorar Si Ries, which won first prize at the San Remo festival.

These four girls do it all by themselves. They have the traditional musical combination, 2 guitars, a bass guitar and drums. There is nothing timid or dainty about their approach. These talented females come upon each song with fresh and dramatic accompaniment. They engender a weird and wonderful feeling.

Few people - once they hear Las Mosquitas - fail to be moved by the vitality and warmth of their performances. They've given birth to an intense music. It's most unusual.

Something new is coming out of South America these days. It's not traditional Latin tempo. This time it's the sound of Las Mosquitas - four beautiful girls who sing and play a Latin-Rock rhythm that will keep the youth of the world bouncing.

No cut out,  no punch out, no cut corner, no funkiness, no smell, no writing.  No nothing.

Cover:  GREAT GRAPHICS ON FRONT, WITH NO FADING YELLOWING ETC.
With this many pics, I do not grade covers.  I can say colors are right, and there is no shrink. There are no big scratches or marks or writing on the cover.  Corners are very good, but shy of perfect.  Top edge has some crazing.  The spine is fine and legible.  No visible ring wear on front or back.  Inner sleeve is aftermarket and lined, very nice. Thick cardboard USA style.    No seam splits!

Vinyl:

NM-/VG+ Play and visually graded.  LP still has gloss, is flat and round, with no feelable marks.  Under bright light, at an angle, I could see a few superficial sleeve scuffs and superficial hairlines.  These caused no significant audible noise or disruption, but there is background noise between tracks and some very quiet passages, it is not overpowering, and probably the result of micro-debris that a careful clean should eliminate.  Spindle has only a few stray marks, and no wear.  Retains most factory gloss.

Condition is subjective, please spend a moment or two to zoom in and decide for yourself if this is a record you wish to invest in.  To truly enjoy this record get an original copy, original mix and in a condition that does not compromise the sonics and provides full range sound.

None of my records have been machine cleaned, I prefer not to do so.  All may benefit from such a clean, I just prefer to use light brushing to clean my LP's.

Also, unless specified, none of my record covers are sleeves have been repaired, I would rather you get the LP in original condition and decide if you wish to fix a minor seam split or not.  You will not get records from me that have been clumsily pasted or taped together and passed of as near mint.

See feedback, I have sold 100's of rare and exceptional records, many valued in the 100's of dollars, with happy customers all. I have also sold a few records in excess of $500 (up to $900), and vintage audio pieces in excess of $4000, with no issues.

If you have questions please ask prior to bidding or buying.

SHIPPING

3.99 SHIPPING TO US (lower 48) in professional slim record box, not in an envelope via media mail.    Each box costs me $1, I do not skimp on shipping records.   Please also recognize Ebay now charges sellers on all shipping fees.  Shipping most records in the US is about $5-6, plus ebay fees on shipping.

I will ship worldwide -  Shipping is $18 to Europe and Asia for records under $50, first class no tracking.  If this LP exceeds $50.00 at auction, shipping will be $37.00 for most countries.  This extra charge registers your LP and helps in tracking your package if delayed. Please select this shipping service when paying at Check Out or wait and I will invoice you.  Buyers from Italy, Spain an South America please arrange to use a re-shipper based in the US if you want any of my records.

I have NEVER had an LP damaged in shipping, I pack properly.

GRADING

Below is a brief description of my grading approach.

Ebay provides an option for grading LP's but does NOT offer any definition(s) for their grades, rendering them meaningless.

Please also read my descriptions and pictures as they will provide info specific to the item for sale/auction.  Thanks.

Mint (M)

Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, if at all.

Near Mint (NM or M-)

The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

Very Good (VG)

Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

Good (G), Good Plus (G+)

A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the cover.

Poor (P), Fair (F)

The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without
skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on
all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover
barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon.
