Laurie Johnson Synthesis Columbia Lansdowne JAZZ LP

Laurie Johnson – Synthesis LP (orig. Australia STEREO Columbia Lansdowne Series SCXO 64121971)

Recorded: 8 August 1969 ~ Australian release date: 1971 (UK: September 1970).

On offer here is an original Australian issue of LAURIE JOHNSON's “Synthesis” album on the COLUMBIA Lansdowne Series label.  Laurie Johnson successfully fused classical and modern jazz elements in this groundbreaking 1969 recording, by combining the cream of Britain’s jazz musicians with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.  The London Jazz Orchestra personnel include JOE HARRIOTT (his final session), TONY COE, TUBBY HAYES, KENNY WHEELER and STAN TRACEY.

Record:

EX+ visual: beautiful glossy sheen—OUTSTANDING copy, few light hairline scuffs only (M-); audible: just PLAYED LOUD through 100 WATT speakers and it SOUNDS SUPERB overall despite some underlying surface noise (EX); labels: hardly any spindle wear, sticker stain and tear on side 1 (unsuccessful repair attempt!), see digital photo #2.  HARD TO FIND A BETTER COPY!!
