Decent UK-only issue gatefold.

The movie (1973, dir. James Hill) starred Eric Porter, Jeremy Kemp, Bill Travers, Rachel Roberts, Heather Wright, and Dennis Waterman.

Condition (refer also to notes at bottom): VINYL: VG. Looks clean on visual inspection. Some faint mottling in an area on both sides. Just a few surface scuffs and hairlines on side 1 but no marks on side 2 – and no deep scratches. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is good throughout – and very good in places. Run-in to side 1 has very mild surface noise; a bit more on side 2. Mild surface noise in places and during quieter cues/fadeouts, plus the odd click. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. A decent listen.
OUTER SLEEVE/COVER: VG+. Front clean and unmarked on superb gatefold sleeve. Edges show very mild wear and corners are scuffed/lightly worn. Spine has mild crinkling and scuffs, mainly to top and bottom. Rear outer gate is slightly creased with disc outline visible. Minor dents. Some staining in bottom area. Inner gate clean with no obvious marks. Minor disc outline on right side. Overall, very good. INNER SLEEVE: VG+. Original yellowed/off-white paper with centre hole and square corners. Minor folding and creasing but intact.

Review:
The is the only release of the soundtrack album for The Belstone Fox on vinyl – a wonderful gatefold edition album from Ronco in England at the time of the film’s release, in 1973.

Laurie Johnson's score largely centres on a single, primary theme, favouring the oboe accompanied by light strings, which is used throughout the score in a diversity of arrangements. The theme is a grand and luxurious melody, instantly memorable, nicely opened up from its initial solo oboe performance into a choir of violins augmented by elegant horn phrases. One of the highlights of the score is The Belstone Hunt, a lengthy six minute plus cue where the composer gives the orchestra a full workout as they perform the exciting, aggressive and ultimately tragic music for the hunt.

A British gem from the classic composer of Tiger Bay, The Avengers and Hot Millions.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
