DESCRIPTION

Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares - “Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares” Elektra / Nonesuch Explorer Records 79165-1 (Stereo) from 1987. Hard to find Original 1987 U.S. First Pressing World Folk album from Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares. Technically this is by The Bulgarian State Radio and Television Female Vocal Choir under the Direction of Philip Koutev and Krasimir Kyurkchiyski but is generally credited as shown. Recorded by Marcel Cellier, the LP was originally released in 1975 in Switzerland with a few scattered releases over the next ten years until 4AD picked it up in 1986 and it became popular. While technically a reissue, this is the First U.S. Pressing by Specialty Record Co. and can be identified by the “E A S T” embossed around the center hole on the B-side and Matrix / Runout Vinyl markings that read:

Because of the “DMM” in the markings, I belive this to be a Direct Metal Master although it is not noted as such. Also, the LP is pressed on Vinyl that appears Black but is very slightly Translucent Brown when held before a strong light - I think it is probably an Audiophile type vinyl like Quiex II or possibly KC 569 Blend Premium Virgin Vinyl. It is not marked as a Promo but I understand that many record companies during this era would make small initial runs on Audiophile Vinyl that were sent to Radio Stations so I think that might be what this is. Includes the Original Insert Sheet.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear, edge creasing and corner softening/wear. Super solid with no splits, stains, tears, cutouts, writing, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl is in pristine Glossy condition looking barely played. If you really look closely you can spot a couple light scuffs but very close to New condition. At least EX visually and really much closer to Near Mint and plays Near Mint all through. The labels are also Near Mint as is the insert sheet.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:

Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
