Description
This is a no reserve auction for an album set labeled
“NEGRO SINFUL SONGS sung by Lead Belly”. Recorded by MUSICRAFT CORPORATION in 1939 as Album 31.
The cover has a Linen spine and photograph of cotton pickers on a plantation. Interior has 5 sleeves containing the five records. The exterior is in very good shape for its age with some surface scuffing and edge and corner tears from handling on the outside, while the inside is close to mint.
The five 78 RPM records are used and have a few scuff marks and light scratches. I played them all and they play well with no skips and good sound quality.
First record is 223A: 'Frankie and Albert' (first half) and 223B: 'Looky, Looky Yonder', 'Black Betty', 'Yellow Women's Door Bells'.
Second record is 224-A 'Frankie and Albert (completion) and 224-B 'Ain't Goin' Down', 'To the Well No Mo' and "Go Down Old Hannah' .
Third record is 225-A 'Poor Howard' and 'Green Corn", and 225-B 'Fannin Street'.
Fourth record is 226-A 'The Boll Weevil' and 226B 'De Kalb Blues'.
Fifth record is 227-A 'The Gallis Pole' and 227-B 'The Bourgeois Blues'.
