Description
The famed & sought after Robert Ludwig "Hot Mix" original pressing of Led Zeppelin II Atlantic SD8236. Matrix on side one reads (etched): ST-A-691671-A LW W AT RL Side two (etched): St-A-691672-A P LW AT RLSS W Labels have Broadway address.
Jacket is a solid VG+, closer to NM. No structural issues, just a bit of a smudge mark on the white portion of front, and a tiny bit of white on corners of the spine. These covers were not glossy & the textured surface typically took a beating. Rare to find one in VG, let alone VG+...
Visually vinyl is VG, with a couple light scratches on each side, most not feelable. There are 2 scratches in track 4 on side 2 that are just feelable with edge of fingernail. Thoroughly playtested, I listened all the way through twice on my Denon direct drive with Shure M97xE at 2 grams tracking force & these are my track by track notes. Side One Track 1: A few light ticks audible during the quiet breakdown of the song. Track 2: Multiple audible ticks during intro & recur during quiet passages. Track 3: No audible issues, plays as VG+/NM Track4: Multiple audible ticks during the outro. Side 2 Track 1: Light surface noise during intro & during breakdown/first solo Track 2: No audible issues, plays as VG+/NM Track 3: A couple ticks as song fades out Track 4: Multiple ticks beginning about halfway through continue for about a minute during drum solo Track 5: No issues, plays as VG+/NM An exceptionally listenable copy of this highly sought after LP! The issues noted above do not in any way overpower the music.
Surface noise is very minimal, and other than the ticks noted above the record sounds a strong VG+, nearing NM territory.
The hype is real on this RL mix! It really does blow away any other version of this lp out there!
